Default Metal Lipped Lures?

Looking for some more/better info. I fish Bombers ALL the time. I have several topwaters to form several manufatures. BUT. Bombers are what I always use. I picked up a few metal lipped lures last year to expand my options. Tsunami's Flat Nose 2oz was a disappointment. They split by the grommet and sweled. Sorry best I know how to discribe it.
I picked up a Danny 1 3/4oz. Apparently they do not swim like a Bomber. I realise now I was fishing it wrong.
So now the question.
What is the best size and weight for an all around metal lipped lure?
I fish around alot of rocks.

as you are finding out all plugs are not created equal... or do the same thing....poorly made/sealed plugs do not last.. plugs that are massed produced across the sea are made from low quality wood and not sealed...some skip the important small details like gromets that protect the end grain from damage witch leads to water intrusion...

Danny's are a surface swimmer... they are an extrodanary plug but only cover a small niche.. bombers simulate small bait fish like sand eels ,spearing or spike mackerel... needlefsih fill that need and can be more versatile.. slow sinkers can be manipulated to entice exciting strikes...

I started building my own plugs 30 years ago because finding the exact plug to suit my needs was often expensive and difficult..

bombers are agreat plug.. but there are plentyof options out there.. just choose wisely.

In addition to the Danny style try a Atom Jr style plug- a real good all around swimmer that imitates larger bait.

Thanks for the repiles. I did pick up some R M Smiths off ebay. I heard the were a great plug. They are on the large size compared to bombers. Hopefully they will be good in the Canal.
