Yea Chinook, I have the neoprene chest waders, and i received the hip waders as a present last year and they are just the rubber ones, but i love them, easy to walk in and easy to travel with.

I figure, if they keep the water out, why spend a million bucks on them.

i bought a pair of orvis waders (pro line) in xl and even though they are a wee long in the leg i have exceptional room to kneel, sit, bend twist and can walk for miles on the beach without getting sluggish from heavy ones.the orvis silverline has gotten considerably cheaper over the years. light weight also,my rubber waders were 29.00 in kmart and in the spring and fall when it;s cold and i bundle up they suit me fine. if it's function you want and don't mind the weight don't spend all kinds of money on waders unless your sure your going to be in them every day.

I love my Pro-Line chest waders Zim. A year of walking in the soft sand with them, up to my spot, and i was looking for alternatives. I figured that i was not using them to the full extent all the time, so i snagged my cheapy hippers. which if they get all nasty, i can replace them as easy as you can hahaha. But, being a man of repairing things, i've repaired bith knees so far, instead of just going down to spend the 40 bucks to replace them, hey i like having old things. But, now i've been looking at the Silver Label Waist Highs by Orvis....you know i got to get the ones in the middle. chest, waist, hip !!! why not?

i got the ones that convert from waders to hip and they are light and it's like wearing a pair of pants. will have to wash them with fresh water after every outing in the surf down here, the water isn't as clean as where you are hahaha

Those sound pretty cool. The water might be cleaner up here but its still salt hahaha. I have to be religious about that crap or they will just rot quickly. This will definetly be the last season for my hip waders, two seasons tops on those cheapy things. even with the repairing.
