Tonights show was the last HBO's "Inside the NFL" that will be aired by HBO. It culminates 31 years of highlights and predictions. It started airing in 1977. The original hosts were Al Meltzer and Chuck Bednarik. . In 1978 NFL legend Len Dawson took over. Miami dolphin Linebacker Nick Bouniconti joined the team in 1980.
Beginning with the 2002 NFL season, the network replaced the aging Dawson and Buoniconti with the team it presently consists of today.
NFL wide receivers Chris Carter and Chris Collinsworth and Former hall of fame quarterback Dan Marino. Veteran sports journalist Bob Costas as the co host anchor and sports journalist Peter king as an anaylyst an NFL insider.

Inside the NFL has been a hallmark program for three decades on HBO," HBO Sports President Ross Greenburg said in a statement. "It has been a terrific franchise . . . but the television landscape has changed quite a bit over the last 30 years and we have to recognize the realities of the business. I'm not sure we had more than one competitor when the show launched."

Costas referred to the execs as "the boneheads" that made the decision to cancel.
"Inside the NFL" is owned by NFL Films and will look to continue the show with another network in the fall.
