Default When will they run up river?

When will the stripers be running up the rivers?
I went Friday (1-30-09) after work above the bridge of Hwy 25 where it crosses the Saluda river. No action though.

That far up I'd guess late march or april. They have to come a long way from santee. In lake wateree, they will about be ready to head back down when the fish in the wateree river are up at the wateree dam.I think 57-58 degrees is when they try to spawn.

Thanks Sam
I guess the fish at the spot where I was would be coming up from Lake Greenwood, which is not really known as a good striper lake but does have a lot of the white bass.
I should try behind the dam of the lake too.

W-
I'm new to this board, but I've had some awesome days on the Saluda below Greenwood dam at Buzzard's Roost. The stripers usually will be in the river in large numbers from March thru April. I've had days that I caught so many 16" 'schoolie" size fish I actually quit fishing. First light and of course if they're generating is best. Usually you can wade out just up from the bridge and wack 'em! Try a 6wt, some clowsers or small deceiver style streamers and hang on. My best fish were in the 5# range. I've seen 15#'s come out of there. Feel free to call or email me anytime.
