Default Okuma Convector?

Does anyone have any experience with the Okuma Convector line of trolling reels? The look really nice in the catalogs, at a very reasonable price.

Or comments on Okuma in general would be helpful. Thanks!

Hey Bait, I bought an Okuma AV-50 last spring, I think it was around 40 or 50 bucks, it is a great reel! I love it and I plan on using it again this year, prob buy another one. Best cheap reel I ever bought!

from what I've seen they have some nice reels for cheap, that can take a decent amount of abuse, for the 50 or 60 bucks you'd spend on a low end penn, its much better to go with an okuma (I know from experience )
Also have a friend who has one of their reels i think it was only 30 or 40 bucks forget what series, be he used it for Blues, Taugin, and croaker fishing and it still runs like new (even after taug fishing, and believe me this guy is hard on his equipment).

I'd say for the money any okuma reel is at least worth a try from what i've seen

Just picked up an Okuma Convector CV55S, new on Ebay for $45.95. After seeing em the other day on Cabelas.com for $84.99 I couldn't pass it up. At almost half price, I figured it's worth a shot anyway.

Received my Convector CV55s yesterday. Looks really nice and sturdy and feels very smooth. We'll see how it holds up to my abuse this year .
