Default Back bay flats rod

whats up guys? One of my fishing spots is Jamaica bay NY, I have tried using my 10' surf rod out there but its a P in the A when your on the flats and you can't chuck small lures with it. I started taking my 7' , but found that I can't get to the deep water when the tides out . Any one got a suggestion on a rod that will give me distance, and the ability to cast light lures, and not be a pain on the flats? I was thinking something in between the two say around 8 1/2 might do the job. Thanks

Lami xs 9 MHS would be a nice choice.

Hey sudsy,

I checked out the specks on the lami, and it seems to rated a bit high for what I want. I think the top end of the weight I'll be throwing will be in the 1 1/2 - 2 oz range, with the low end around 1/4 oz. But then again I got the fly rod for the small stuff. thanks for the info.

You might want to try Lami's 86 MTS -- it's from their Salmon/Steelhead line. I have one paired up with a Daiwa Team Advantage 4000. Fast action with some significant backbone to it. It's a step up from my G Loomis PR 904S (7' 6").
