Surf Fishing Tournament scheduled to begin
50th annual Long Beach Island Surf Fishing Tournament scheduled to begin tomorrow October 9th
Sponsored by the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, the contest is hoping to have over 1,000 participants this year. Although this number has not yet been met the organizers are hopeful it will be.
In order to stimulate registration, the first 1000 anglers who sign up will receive a souvenir 2004 tournament hat, a 50th anniversary commemorative pin, a coupon for a free carwash presented by Manahawkin Magic Wash and a coupon for a slice of pizza at Basil's Pizza and Italian Grill in Beach Haven.
Then, when you catch a big bluefish or striped bass, you are eligible for a plethora of daily, weekly, segment and other special prizes. This is certainly worth the $25 entrance fee.
You can sign up at the Chamber of Commerce on the Causeway in Ship Bottom or at any of the weigh-in stations. These stations are Barnegat Light Bait and Tackle, Bruce and Pat's Bait and Tackle in Surf City, Fisherman's Headquarters in Ship Bottom and Jingles Bait and Tackle in Beach Haven.
