vega midi duplicator owners inserted tool offer
I just made a batch of the carbide insert tool holder used on the vega midi. I had to run a batch of 10 to justify programing and seting up my CNC mill. I wil not need 10 of these tools. I am going to sell the tools as a kit which includes:
1ea.7/16 dia. holder
1ea. wrench
1ea. screw
5ea. carbide inserts 1/64 radius.
price $120.00 per kit
these tools are very good quality made from tool steel. no the junk carbon steel from vega.
e-mail me if you want one at [email protected]

I was wondering if these inserts are coated or not-is that a 331? Do you know what brand and grade they are? I'm just trying to justify in my head
I just also want to clarify that it is a good price as the vbmt holders are quite costly

Re: vega midi duplicator owners inserted tool offer
I'm kind of curious, since I'm still using (and sharpening) the standard HSS cutter, why the need for 5 inserts? Since the are rotatable, that will give you 10 seperate sets of edges to use......on cedar. I thought the carbide cutter would virtually eliminate the need for sharpening and replacement, due to the softness of the material.....? Not knocking it, just kinda curious......

Re: vega midi duplicator owners inserted tool offer
jerseystriper,
Arno VCGT 221 UNCOATED H1 CARBIDE 1/4" IC.
The VBMT 331 is a 3/8 IC . the 331 insert will not fit on a 7/16" dia. shank tool.
Ed White,
I think that offering 1 insert is a joke. I am including 5 inserts with each kit to offset the the cost of the kit. the reason tools dull is beacuse of the silica content that the wood contains be it soft or hard wood. also the pitch build up can lead to premature edge failure. the hss tool defeats the purpose of the duplicator. if you have to remove the tool to resharpen and reset -up you lose productivity . simply replacing an insert takes minutes and you start off where you left off with out making adjustments.

Duh I should have noticed that. I had just pulled up some info I had from an order a couple weeks ago. I never even checked the size.
Ed this type of setup is much nicer than the regular HSS bit. With carbide you don't sharpen like with your HSS. You would hone these on a diamond sharpener(or just replace)
Again very nice setup Dan

Re: vega midi duplicator owners inserted tool offer
I only have a few left if you or anybody you know would like one let me know. I also added two extra screws to the kit. they are not pictured. I had to buy them as a 50 pack so I decided to throw a couple in with the kit.

Re: vega midi duplicator owners inserted tool offer
Do you have anymore of the kits left? I have a Vega midi-24 and wanted to make sure the bits would fit.
Thanks..
