nyc, shoot down the boulevard to Grumpys. www.grumpystackle.com

They are probably the best b&t on the island. They'll hook you up with some advice. I usually only fish ibsp or up at the inlet in point pleasant.
I will be down there

Out front though at IBSP I've heard some not so promising reports lately, but it could turn around.

The guys at Grumpys are top flight (Tom, Grumpy himself, is real piece of work )

Croaker should be starting to show at night. Fish for them like you would kingfish in the daylight. If you get any, (kingfish or croaker) put one of their heads out on heavier gear for the odd bass that might be cruising by.

This time of year Calicos and sandbugs are also good night time bass baits. You may have to work through a lot of skates and dogfish though.

In the daylight it'll be small fluke and kingfish, unless the 100# Cownosed Rays decide to make an appearance then it's time for extra heavy gear and some pulled muscles.

I've been trying to get some sharks out on IBSP but nothing landed yet. I get runs and they usually break me off.

I've been strictly Delaware River freshwater for the past few weeks and will stay with that until the end of Sept (smallies in the 2# range have been biting well on live crickets and hellgrammites)

I have heard reports of a small brown shark on the beach at IBSP, plenty of short fluke off the beach in NoMon with the rare keeper, and the occasional bluefish blitz, some of them in the 10# range.

I fished in northern Jersey on Sunday with a buddy from the area. We fished the morning/afternoon incoming tide from the shore. We were using hi/lo rigs with gulp mullet and live killies. Fluke action was good all day long, including 4 nice keepers.

There was a lot of bait in the water and the blues were blitzing off and on the whole time. My buddy also landed 2 24in stripers.

It was a great day of fishing, but we packed it in once the lightning started .

Mostly fluking for me, from the beach and the boat, the keepers have returned finally from the boat, but none for me from the beaches, at least not yet, I expect they will be on the beach right about the time the season closes.
Bluefish have been showing up here and there, and I saw a couple of bass that were plucked from a boat at "The Rocks", but it's strictly a right place/right tide stage thing.
I'm patiently waiting for some sign of bonito/albies, I have never caught either one, but was standing next to my buddy last year when he hooked one, and the sound his reel made makes me think I want some of that.
I am heartened to hear about short bass being in the area, just something else to fish for while we wait for the summer doldrums to recede.

Mostly Fluking for me too, but today we actually targeted blues. I needed something to get the blood flowing again after some so-so fluke trips. Today was a blast catching gators up to 15# all on topwater plugs. Most went back but we kept 5 for some friends that actually like the way they taste.

Wow, what a great 3 days
Went camping and fishing on the Delaware River this weekend, just got back
As soon as we got there we did the mask and snorkel thing and found a great hole in a small side channel, from 3' straight down to 12' and full of fish !

We POUNDED smallmouth to almost 4#, small striper's in the 12" range, and channel cats to 6#s. Between my two sons and I we had to have caught 150 fish minimum probably more.

Some fish on plugs and jigs and a few smallmouth on the 2# flyrod (a blast) but most and all the big ones on live hellgrammites

Saw carp in the bottom of that hole that would have easily spooled us, we were fishing ultralite gear, but couldn't get any of em to bite.

Thinking about it, we definitely caught more then 150 fish, over the 3 days !
I caught close to 100 myself and my younger son is more hardcore then I am. He had to catch near that many as well.
