Cappo,

As for your plugs, swap out the hooks and get some new ones..Also, get some Zerust Tabs, you will see them on the Flambeau site and put one in your plug bag as it emits an invisible vapor which causes no harm or foreign scent on your plugs and it will inhibit rust on all your metal surfaces. I put one in my tool box, in my boat compartments etc...pick up some.

My gear is now clean and ready for the upcoming season. I did fish IBSP on Saturday from 7-9am and not a touch. Conditions were nice, NW winds and nothing happening but earlier last week guys nabbed some fish on metal.

I did not do too well with teasers this year, more on plugs, bucktails and metal when I did hit the surf.

New boat coming for 2009 up in the Sound and I am hoping gas prices stay lower than in 2008...I plan to be at the Saltwater Sportsman Show on the 10th and the Suffern and Somerset Shows.

I changed out all my hooks for VMC's. Thanks for that tip Long Run on the tabs, I'll have to give them a try. I definately don't wash off my stuff enough though. I usually fish after and/or before work, so I usually have to jet to work or home so I never have time to even rinse it. Its something I gotta work on.

I"ll have to see if I can make the somerset show, I work 2 minutes from it.

Is it time to close this thread and start a new report thread for '09? I don't know how to do it, but could probably get Jim to help out.
New season starts March 1 in the back, unless you are still fishing out front, in which case, better you than me.

Maybe we can leave this thread on the board, I have gone back and read thru the Spring reports a couple of times just to think back to warm days and singing reels.

Default Jersey Shore Reports for 2009

How'd you do today? Let us know !
Catch n release? Did you take a picture ?

Keep the area general no need to send the lurking hordes to your (and possibly my) spots.
The following acronyms should cover most of the state:

RB - Raritan Bay
SH- Sandy Hook
NoMoCo- Northern Monmouth County (Sea bright to Shark River)
SoMoCo- Southern Monmouth County (Shark River to 'Squan River)
NoOC - Northern Ocean County
SoOC - Sourthern Ocean County
IBSP-Island Beach State Park
LBI- Long Beach Island
AC- Atlantic County
CISP- Corson's Inlet State Park
CMC- Cape May County
CMR- Cape May Rips
DB- Delaware Bay

Just add "in the back" to any of the above to signify the rivers or bays

Thread closed for the season, see the new thread for 2009

We'll keep this stickied so guys can reference back. Kind of like our own historical logbook.

Hit my first fishing show of the season yesterday, picked up a roll of flouro for short money, met some folks, was good to get into the fishing mode again, for a little while.

Relax, it's still February you've got time

I wouldn't get too pumped for the coast until at least April. My logs show i was catching decent fish consistently mid April, the BIG girls showed up around mid May and hung around until July. Backbay is another story though. Patience. Patience. Patience.

Easter (the date of which is based on the moon) has always been the traditional kickoff up in the Raritan bay area
Easter is late this year
