There are some lots that require parking permits day or night... i learned the hard way. the very first lot requires a permit no matter what time of day. Atleast thats what the electronic board says when you pull in... I got my ticket at 9:30 AM and i parked after 7 AM.... this would mean it's no longer considered night fishing so any lot should be fair game... unless i just got screwed out of 65 bucks

anyhows just be careful and make sure you read any signs etc

Huh ?? Something there doesn't sound quite right.
After Labor Day to before Memorial day you don't need any kind of pass during the day in any of the lots, only at night.

During the summer I don't go near the place in the daylight.

that's exactly what i thought... on the first weekend of november i parked in the very first lot when u drive in to sandy hook and was given a 65 dollar ticket at 9:30 am and it states on the ticket "parking without permit"... so im going to assume that u needed a permit for that lot... i park in the north beach lot and any other lots without a permit (during the day) and no problem... i get what your saying about the lot but im just letting u know what happened to me... so dunno what else to say lol... there was an electronic board stating "something" in that very lot but i ignored it since i thought the same rules applied to all lots and that electronic board ahs been there for quite some time... anyhows maybe ur right maybe im wrong all i know i paid 65 bucks for parking illegally in that parking lot after labor day and imma be a bit upset if i screwed over lol... anyhows i guess just be careful?

When you say the first lot, are you talking about the lot with the building and bathrooms or are you talking about the construction lot ?

They may have some no parking thing going on due to the bridge construction at the old toll booth lot, but if you got a ticket in the plum island lot during the daytime then someone screwed up and you should get that one dropped.

Gotcha
That's not a park permit - that's a construction permit and has nothing to do with the night pass. The whole area there is construction personnel only.

Uh-Oh.
I'm getting ready to go hit the beach for high tide and zim just said not to quit yet.....do I dare go to the beach, while being in agreement with the zimster? Or will the expected 30-40-50 mph west winds drive all the water away from the beaches? Will having to walk thru snow to get to the water bring bad juju?
Today may well suck, but Tues has highs in the mid 40's and a late afternoon high tide, I'll be at the beach after work.

fish midnight tonight till 6am and then high pressure moves in and a w to sw wind. (light but ng) so tues nite same deal. system moves in at about 9pm so fish just before then. early am has not been great looking at it. daytime bite? i don't know. schoolies are around but need a good wind and a good tide and a good spot. i'd fish the back side of the hook just before sunset with some small jigs and storms. i know the tide here>> should be like 2:30-3pm H at that spot.i don't see big fish on the menu but fish are around. we then have wednesday with rain into thursday and low low pressure and fri sat sun extreme high pressure. fish have taken the deep water route with this wind and massive schools of bait offshore. i would fish these 2 nites as something tells me this weekend will be it. as the migration offshore will continue as i see absolutely no bait anywhere by me? but i have been wrong before as there are still fish being caught off long island. to be continued/////////

My neighbor and I went to take a look at the North Monmouth County beachers yesterday, to see what we could see, and the first beach we pulled up to, off in the distance to the north, we could see a thousand birds doing the dance off the beach, so, back in the truck to chase the chickens a bit, when we got closer it was more like 5000 birds, a half mile off, whacking the water like there was no tomorrow. At one point there were so many gannets falling out of the sky that it looked like a waterfall. No idea what they were on, the only fish we got was a herring for my buddy on his first cast, and a skate that I snagged in the wing with a piece of metal. Ridiculously windy, flat water, no fish in tight. Oh Well.

each day is different. I launched out of MB saturday on my kayak and stayed out 4 hours. All the boats were reporting slow action. I got 2 stripers ... one short and one at 28" exactly, trolling a Fin-S. I did get out into the birds, but they were not attacking the water and nothing obvious under them, they just picked at the surface intermittently. Next decent weekend day with minimal waves, I will be out there again.

Hit south Mon Co the last 2 nights, 2 fish last night, a rat and a 27", the 27 kept me there fishing for an extra hour looking for Mr Legal.
Tonight, right before the storm blew thru, and during it, the water looked extremely fishy, the stupid SW wind died off as soon as the rain started, surf was starting to churn a little, but no love. Looked really good too. Maybe the 2 or 3 days of steady S wind cooled things off a bit too much.
Goes NE tomorrow with biggish surf, W on Friday with subsiding surf, and NW on Sat....think I'll try the dawn patrol then.
