Default Storing Sabiki Rigs - Suggestions Please

A 247 site search didn't yield so.....
Does anyone have a suggestion for storing sabiki rigs once they've been used? I've never successfully wrapped them back into the original package. There must be a way to keep them from tangling into a mess. Keeping the hooks out of my flesh would be nice too. thanks

i find it easier to cut them in half make two rigs out of the one. Only half the trouble of storing lol.

A piece of 1/2 PVC pipe cut to length, notch cut in each end. Drop the rig down into it, catch the bottom hook in the bottom notch, then catch the swivel in the top notch. Slide a cap on each end to lock the hook and swivel into the notches. No more tangles.

They sell "leader holders" at some tackle shops and I know wal mart carries them. I've never used them before and assume they would be more suited for regular leaders, not sabiki rigs...but I guess it's worth a shot.

I like that PVC pipe idea though...sounds creative.

I would just keep the card dry and put em back there, easier to carry them that way if you're on foot. But i like the PVC and styrofoam ideas, very creative.

I used the PVC method on my boat, just kept a few in the pocket under the gunnel. On the yak, I can just toss the tube in the crate and not worry about it. I've never used them from shore.

I picked up one of these last year on impluse. I have to tell you... it's been worth every penny in terms of headache reduction. Just stick a 2-3oz oval lead on the end of the jig and reel the sabiki right into the rod, the weight acts as a stopper and pulls in nice and snugg to the concave tip.

I store mine the same way I use 'em, and I'm not sure where I saw the idea.

Make a sabiki "rod" out of a piece of 3/4" PVC pipe. The pipe is sold in 10' lengths which makes 2 nice 5' rods. Leaving enough length at one end for holding on, I mounted the reel by drilling one hole for the front of the reel, and prying the pvc up after heating, the back of the reel is just held in place with an electrical zip tie. About 6" fwd of the reel, I drilled a hole for the line to go through. (de-burr the edges) The line and sabiki rig go through the inside of the pipe.

These are the nutz.

Good luck.

Looks like a few folks went the diy route. Let's see some pics of the finished products! For anyone still undecided give Karen at Hook1 a call.
