If and when I am fishing with a lure it would be a Charles Graves tin. If you mean a plug then I probably say a superstrike bottle neck popper.

For me it was a pencil and a surfster this year but far and away the most fun I had with a lure was a Russo flaptail that the original owner had modified by counterweighting and soldering the rear hook. There was no front hook and i didnt want to mess with the swim. It was absolutely sick. We were stunned at the way this thing flapped on the back of the waves and got smacked on every cast. I was so nervous i'd lose it to a bluefish but the stripers where on it. I should have added a teaser but I couldnt stop laughing at this thing and didnt want to lose a moment. I switched it out to a casting swimmer and scored consistantly that entire afternoon. I had witnesses for this one.

This picture isnt the exact lure but its a brother from the same batch.

At night it was a toss up between a black darter and an eel but since the eel isn't a plug I'd have to go with the darter. Daylight it was a white Danny.

Heavy duuty wooden spook or spook style at night when it's warmer and they were feeding on top.

Deeper diver swimmer when it was cooler and the fish were more sluggish.

They are worth between 300 and 1100 bucks.
A guy was selling one on ebay for $1600.

Take a look at Joes work on his copy of the Russo and the Heddon. Absolutely beautiful. Too nice not to give it more exposure. Pure art. !!
