I'd support a Bass Pro shops. They are a little friendlier towards the Striped Bass

Not to be a complete jerk but business like cabelas and Bass Pro Shops are not good for anyone. Small businesses local tacal shops is where it's at! But everything is jumbo size these days so the smaller places dwindle and the big wallyworld esq joints are takin over. Got to love America.

I agree Reed and I have really never ordered anything from Cabelas even tho i requested their catalogs, i just like looking at the stuff :) I give all my business to local shops, there are some really good ones around.

BrandonL, StriperSteve, and I took roadtrip out to see Jim last January. We stopped at the Cabela's out there in PA, and upon searching for anything Striped Bass, I came up empty handed. Nothing. The only thing remotely connected to Striped Bass was the tiny section of Atom plugs No souvenirs, no Striped Bass pillows, no books, no videos, no nuthin'. Not even any Striped Bass in the big aquarium they have there. NOTHING. Then upon returning and posting about the trip, and the lack of support and representation for the Striped Bass, someone posted in the thread that we should've gone to the Bass Pro Shops in PA instead, and they have alot more Striped Bass related stuff, including lots of Striped Bass in their aquarium

I've always shopped with Bass Pro more often anyway, since I was kid, so its just been my go to mail order place. But I will use either now depending on which is cheaper lol. I agree that the big giant superstores are getting ridiculous. I dont mind them when they are waaaaay out in the boonies, but when they start building these things in heavily populated areas, it effects the small business guys. Shouldnt really effect shops with bait though, unless Cabela's starts selling bait too LOL
