Default What Lure do i choose?!?!

I am a fisherman who usually sticks to trolling. I like it because it is lazy fishing. I just got two casting rods and don't know what types of lures are best to put on them. What would you use in 5-15 feet of water? and how about 15-25 feet of water. Im looking for big striper, keep in mind i am fishing off a boat, not the shore.

Hogy's and big sluggo's always do the trick for me. Also the new Sebile swim baits are absolutely sick (as well as expensive). Tins are good for blitzing fish that are feeding on smaller fish like silversides as well as bombers. Trial and error is the best advice. Spend a little money and get a few different options. Its usually not just one bait for every situation. Good luck.

Probably a big Stan Gibbs metal lip diver would work. I know Rapala makes a big metal lip stick lure.

You won't know until you try things. Try a bomber, some weighted sluggos and even some eels, throw what you got. Good luck.

i understand that the best way to find a good lure is by trying many. What i was wondering is if there are certain lures that when being retrieved, only stay in a certain desired depth of water.

Jigs work great all around, as for various water depths look at rapala's, bombers, etc... There are various types for different depths, it will say on the package how deep they dive. Secondly, what you throw kinda depends on where and when you are at a certain spot. (Ex. Spring time, try mackeral or herring pattern if there are those baitfish in the area)

Are you able to catch bait fish without seeing them being chased at the surface by birds and blues?

yep....last year was the 1st for me but i was pretty successful thanks to some help from Roccus...
find a area macs frequent anchor up , use some chum and a sibaki rig, if macs are around you'll get a few....eels on the other hand i buy at the bait shop, some guys trap them but they live closer to the areas they fish and check the traps daily....

Far from an expert when it comes to trolling, but it seems as though the tube n worm (bubble gum color) seems to do the trick across the board if ya HAD to stick to one method. I am not familiar with the set up but I'd imagine it is trolled near the bottom, relatively slowly?? Try a search man, I have seen a LOT of pictures of pigs caught using this method. Good luck man.

I am well familliar with most of the lures used to troll. I like tube and worm, as well as umbrella rigs, but this year i am going to try to catch more fish with casting lures.....
