Hey guys, new to the sight but grew up fishing for stripers in NJ. Been in the Kansas City area about 8 years and discovered Beaver Lake about 3 years ago and have been making trips back yearly. I recently heard that the bite a Norfolk is just as good if not better so I'm looking for a guide that would be able to take me and my 3 sons out on trip in July. Anyone have someone they would recommend? My boys have never felt the tug of a striper and it would make my summer if I can get them on some fish. Looking forward to hearing from you guys and kudos for having what I believe is one of the best striper fisheries west of the Delaware River.
Went and hired a guide service called Lucky You and fished with a guide named Rodney Gilbertson. I went in July of 2014. There was a huge cold front that hit that week and temps were in the 70's all week. It must have thrown the fish off big time. Not 1 bite. The guide worked hard to put us on fish but no luck. We saw a bunch of other guides running all over the lake to find fish or a pattern that would work and I didn't see a single hook up all day. It's a beautiful lake and the guide was a good guy, just bad timing.
One thing I noticed is that most of the guides available in Norfolk are artificial lure guys. Not too many live bait guys at that lake.
