Question why?

Why did I just spend $30 for 25 yards of flourocarbon leader material? I am going to search the site here in a min for any info on flouro, but in the meantime, anyone use it and know why it is better than mono?

It resists abraisons much better than mono, in other words it's tougher. Harder to tie knots with as well, not as supple as mono either, doesn't stretch like mono does.

What he said,, plus it refracts light differently than mono, resulting in better invisibility.

Ande clear, pink or tournoment line gets the nod from me, seeing as I fsh mostly at night....It's tougher than any body's floro, the mussel beds and rock piles I frequent require the very best, floro doesnt cut it, I still use Jenki floro for my tuna lines because of the light refractability.... but for everthing else I've gone back to my roots... those roots being Ande.... the seguar spools are handy to wrap a few yaards of Ande on...

Yeah up until last week, I've been using Ande mono (like 5$ or something for like 300 yrds) w/out issue, but in talking with the guy at the shop, bought some flouro. Got to lookin at it and I'm going, I just spent $1.20 a yard for something that looks just like mono (not even smaller diameter like braid...). I do see some advantages now after reading about it but....IDK. What I do know is I'm gonna treat this Seaguar like gold, no more leaving looonnng ends on knots before trimming

Eeeewwww. "Shop guy recommendation!"
I do like the flouro as a 30-40" snelled to the hook sometimes, but not very often.
More often I'll use the Seager 20# for a 4' tippet on the flyrod. But, used as much for it's stiffness as for it's other attributes.

Triplefish Flouro is just as good as Seaguar and much less expensive.
Ande Flouro is good too but more expensive then Triplefish. I buy it when I find it on sale.

Stay away from Vanish - the stuff is crap, very brittle.
