Default scup & striper

does anyone use scup for striper??? just came to my head why not.... if anyone does use them how do you use them??? use them live, dead, chunk, or just use them for chum slick???

Yes. One of the most productive bait around. Known as "Yo-Yo". Circle hook on a slider with a nice weight. Bounce the weight off the bottom keeping line vertical. You'll know when the Striper is about to hit by the action of the scup.

Some cut off the dorsel fin but I think they don't swim right that way. Even as bait, the regs in MA say 10.5".

Fresh scup is one of the best baits available in my opinion. Second only to live eels. I chunk them. Stripers seem to like the heads the most.

Shock scup are porgies.
'Pogies' is a slang term for bunker (menhaden)
Sometimes these two are confused.
Live lining scup is an awesome way to fish for stripers.
Scup ('porgie') is like a saltwater panfish.
Its 10 1/2" in New York as well.
