Default Introduce yourself .....

OK the sight has grown quite large and some new members may not know who is who....Seeing as we are on the dawn of a new year lets all get aquainted/reaquainted...

I am the infamous Roccus,my given name is Joe, I fish the area surrounding the Merrimack river and plum island from the state of Massachusetts....

I was born into this world one snowy February night 49 years ago..
I grew up the son of a farmer and heavy equiptment operator,my mother was a seamstress, I grew up hunting and fishing, i shot my first buck at age 9... I am a life long mechanic and carpenter,if I cant fix it, I build it... I have NO knowledge of computers... I fake it!

I've been a lifelong Redsox fan, I became a Patriot fan about 15 years ago.

I am the father of 4 and grandfather of 2 lovely little girls, thanks to my son Joe, known on the board as JB24

My fishing began on the concord river where I caught hornd pout, eels and pickerel, I began trout fishing the streams with my dad by age 4.

As a teenager I fished for largemouth bass EVERY summer evening... until I discoverd stripers... by age 14 they became an obsession that has never waned all these years.. I think I've caught stripers just about every legal way there is to catch them.... tossing eels is still my favorite method.

In the winter I icefish, tie flies and make plugs , trout are my favorite targets through the ice, with smelt a close second...

I've met with and fish with some great people on this board, I'm sure there will be others.... now the rest of you know who I am!

tight lines
Roc

Well. I'm the son of the infamous Roc. I've been fishing since I was a little boy. Grew up doing a lot of trout fishing and freshwater fishing. I have moved from home and now live in NJ. I have been in the Navy now for 6 and a half years and I love it. I use to load a lot of ordnance but know I fly on C-130's as a loadmaster. I spend a majority of my free time with my 2 little girls (4 months and 3yrs old) and my lovely wife. When I'm not playing Navy or at home fixing something I like to go fishing for stripers and fluke. I do on occasion bring out the little one for some sun fish. I like to xonsider myself okay with computers( better than some and worse than the rest ). Well, that is about it for me.

Hi, I'm born and raised on cape cod. I guess fishing is a given after 45 years here. Go red sox, I live for those s.o.b.s so if I get all yankees suck, I'm sorry now! It's eel nyut, not eel nut. If you've ever gotten eel slime on your sleeve, what does it look like the next day? NNNYYYYYYUUUUUTTTT!

Good Idea Roc.

I'm Tonydb, live on a pond in MA, with a beach house in ME. I'm 53 years young, married with a daughter in college, and have been fishing for over 40 years, mostly for large mouths. However after purchasing the house in ME, I got into striper fishing. First year in the ME house I caught a 43" striper. Got my little red boat the following year thinking that I was really gonna catch some monstas. 8 years later, the 43 incher is still the biggest I've caught. That's why I found this site.

I'm the glue-ru, research director for an Adhesives company ("If I can't stick it, it can't be stuck") and I play a mean blues guitar with my buddies, "the mid-life crisis band".

Edit: Wanted to add a pic....shsss....don't tell Zim (thanks again Jim).

Indeed! I'm Jacob, aka Baitrunner. Now living in Fall River, MA after relocating here last fall from Missouri where I grew up on a farm, fishing and hunting from an early age. I'm 29, married, and have a 16 month old daughter and a son on the way, due to arrive on the scene at the end of May.

I'm a manager at a large factory in New Bedford which specializes in embroidered headwear and apparel for the golf industry. We do all the logos on hats and garments for the PGA, TPC, Pebble Beach, Whistling Straits, etc.

2005 was my first striper season and I've completely fallen in love with the ocean and the fishing that we have here. I've also grown very fond of this great website and the great folks who hang out here.

Other than fishing and working, I spend my time with my family and also play guitar every Sunday at our church in Dartmouth, MA.

Looking forward to striper season #2!!

I'm Jon aka "Merrill". 28, from Hampton, and the youngest of 6....2 older bro's and 3 older sisters (Brady Bunch, HAHA). My mother pretty much raised us herself, so I started fishing when I was 8 with my brothers.

I fish the NH Seacoast area, and surrounding rivers, bays, and marshes. I love being no more than about 20 minutes from all my favorite fishing spots, in any direction. I also take the occassional trip up to the Kennebec River area in Maine. Striped Bass are my obsession, and my life pretty revolves around their arrival and departure. I started seriously fishing for Stripers when I was around 11 or 12, the Trout just werent doing it for me lol, so I kept begging my brothers to take me along on one of their "marsh trips". I finally graduated and was allowed to accompany them. Back then, Flounder were also prevelant in the marsh, so learned alot about both fish. Around 14 I was allowed to work on the boats in Hampton Harbor a handful of hours a week. I did that for a few Summers, riding my bike with a friend in the early AM, all the way down to the Haaahhbah. Learned alot from the "Greybeards" there. During my Junior year of High School, for reasons I still cannot explain, I stopped fishing all together. Maybe I was too busy partying and being a dope? I didnt fish for about 5 years. It was a horrible time! I got back into it and re-found my roots on e day after my best friend called and said he was going to go fishing, which was something he hadnt done in years either. Ever since that day, I have been non-stop. All the passion for the fish came back to me, and I'll never stop again. I love learning everytime I am on the water, learning and experiencing is an addiction for me. I would rather be no other place in the world than on the water fishing for Striped Bass.

Unfortunately, most people I know are not as passionate about fishing as I, including my brothers, so fishing alone alot of the time has become not so rare. I am still in the process of getting my oldest brother Don to stop whining about getting old, and to start getting back on the water But thats where this board comes in....

I have also met some great people due to this board, and made some great, life-long friends I think, that share the same passion for the fish. I fish with BrandonK and StriperSteve regularly, and was a student under the tutelage of the infamous Roccus Joe this season.

I cant wait till the Spring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm new to site. I live in northern Il. I enjoy fishing for bass, walleye, musky, and I fish for salmon and trout on Lk. Mi.

My favorite fishing is striper. I fish a private 300 acre lake that is well stocked with hybreds a 12# was caught and released from my boat this past year.

I take an annual spring trip to Norfork Ak each spring with some friends and 3 brothers a 16# was caught and released from my boat last March. We always go down to norfork too early we just have severe cabin fever by the end of March and need to grt away.

We are learning the lake and our hosts are serious about striper fishing. 30# fish are common out of thier resort. I am hopefull for great results this year.

I'm 50 years old a die hard Sox and Bears fan. As well as Blackhawks. I,m married and often fish with my wife her strong passion for fishing allows me to fish 40 weekends a year as I like to fish many areas of Il. In, and Mi.

Hi all my name is Steve Ross (aka beanbottom) and I am almost a lifelong resident of Rollinsford NH, which is a little town of 2600. I am almost 35 and I have been married for 11 years to Betsy Ross and together we have 2 little monsters, Colin is 4 and Kaitlyn is 2. I work in sales selling industrial power transmission compoments and have done so for 13 years now. BrandonK was the one that got me started on striped bass when we used to go fish the docks at Sprague Energy on the Piscataqua. I don't think I've been fishing in the last 5 years without Brandon, sometimes we're with Jonny in the mahsh or other shore places but most of the time we're on Brandon's boat. I would say we're best friends and some would even suggest we share a brain I found this site back in it's early days of 2004 and have met and fished with some great people. I have learned a lot and hope that I have even given useful advice once or twice :)

Hey All I'm Sadlsorz aka Eric. I am 33 years old married with child(ren?) on the way. I was born and raised in Central NJ the middle of three kids. My wife and I own three horses, which is also what I do for a living, I am a Blacksmith.
Funny thing is, I am the only avid fisherman in my family although I do get my dad out occasionally. I started out mostly fishing in a small pond up the street from my house. Slowly but surely I shifted over to Saltwater and when my business really started o thrive, I bought a boat. That is when I discovered Striper fishing and have been "hooked" ever since.

I just want to thank all of you guys for the help you have given me on my sometimes stupid questions.

Many big bass,

Eric

Eh!, My name is Kevin and from Nova Scotia ,Canada. I fish the Minas Basin which is in the Bay of Fundy. Married with daughter 25, son 17. 44 yrs old, been married since 18 yrs old. I've been striper fishing since I was 20, but really became an obsession about 10 yrs ago. Wife started striper fishing 4 yrs ago and just loves it. We start fishing in April and finish in November, although don't catch much first or last month. I live 10 minutes from the bay which is great as we can just go whenever the tide is right. Our style of fishing is basicly bait fishing . I've tried some retrieving plugs but not much luck. Plan on getting some better lures this year to try. We don't get many big stripers up here, Wife caught her first legal size fish this summer{28 in}.I got three over the limit.{27,28&31in}. Our tides run between 35-45 ft high , so we can fish 6 hrs a tide, 3 in and 3 out. I found this board about a year ago and just love it. No question is too stupid. Ive got more info from here than any other board. The other boards don't even acknowledge me when they find out I am a Canadian. Not a problem here. Well, thats me in a nutshell,,Great thread Roc,,and thanks again to all members for all the help to my questions. Some day I will get down there to throw a line with some of you guys. If anybody ever comes up here give me a holler, so I can show ya around. Later Dobb

Northman, aka, Russell. Longtime lurker, recent member.
I too am Canadian, have lived in the States since 1980. Learned to fish for smallies, muskie and northerns with my older bro and grandfather in St Lawrence in Montreal. Quick stint in Jersey and a couple of vacations in Barnegat (sp?) showed me snapper blues and flukes in close.

SF Bay area after that for stripers and sharks, Seattle area groundfish and salmon early 90's and have been in Maine since '95. Fish some early freshwater and late hardwater, but mostly fish the upper and lower Kennebec, not much in between, mid-May-mid-Oct. Fish from shore, out of kayak, or 19' cc Triumph.

No kids, girlfriend of 13 years, help care for elderly parents (we're down to one). Work in waste management in central Maine. Favorite past time is to float upper Kennebec in kayak with lady and gallon of home brew :)
