Default perfect morning on the sand

pulled up to the beach at a quarter to six tihis morning and the birds and seal lions were working for a half mile in either direction. walked to the first rip nothing hit the second rip fish on turn around and my buddy's hooked up this went on for the next hour and a half before we were forced off the beach by having to go to work. the tally for the morning we landed 12 fish and lost 3. it was all good till i went to land a fish and was trying to get out of the way of a wave tripped fell down and watched my i phone flop down the sand and disappeared into the deep blue i then proceed to see the phone wash up and i chase it back down to the shore pound and just as im about to get it a wave comes and drills me breaks the line on the fish im draging and they both dissapere . 500 dollars later i had a new phone and a striper dinner.

Same for me a month ago. Bringing in a striper (my first) reaching under my jacket for my video camera and pulling it out wet. The cam should be back in a few days from the shop for $240. Nothing like that first SB though. Your experience is the first I've heard of an open bite (I fish the Mbay surf as well). Nice going!

Zip Lock=Condensation=killed phone....for me at least....I wouldn't want that to happen to anyone else!

Plano makes a smaller profile watertight ABS plastic box for important things such as cellphones.....I forget the name of it though.

ahaha..never done it at the beach yet but with trout and bass fishing in the spring before the stripers come round i have lost 4 phones due to water damage of sorts..the best solution ive found is to just leave the phone in the car

I have a diabetic teenager at home, plus I have a pretty bad streak of old mother hen in me, so I HAVE to have a phone with me at all times.

I'm into my third year with the Casio Gz'one waterproof phone and so far so good. It's been underwater more times then I can count and still works and sounds as crappy as it did the day I got it.
(Even though it does always sound like the person on the other end is calling from the other side of the planet, I really shouldn't complain. Probably would have spent well over 1k in replacement costs by now if I didn't have it)

I had that Gz'one for quite a few years and it was a tank!!

used to pull tricks at the bar by bettin people i couldn't just drop it into my draft and casually drink with no damage = lots of free beer!

now i got a Blackberry so precauitons are a must, heavy mil ziplocks work just fine for minor water submersion

I use Aqua pack bags for my keys(replacement car keys are not cheap) and cel. The cel bags allow you to use your phone without taking it out of the bag. They also make shoot through bags for cameras but I now have a waterproof camera, Fuji, so that problem is eliminated.

Zip Lock with all the air pushed out of it with phone in it = no condensation problem. I have had the same blackberry for 18 months and generally have it with me when fishing. Never a problem.
