Default surf plug

any reccomendations on a surf plug @1 to 3 oz for fishing around jetties and breakwaters. Will be fishing in West Haven, Conn. on the Long Island sound during daylight. Color recomendations would help also.

Daylight stay with light colors. Lots of choices. Poppers, darters, needles, danny's, and many many more

Try to scout the area and look to see what's there for baitfish and try to imitate it

huh?
bluefish city hey? large "and i mean large" poppers as bluefish can't inhale them and you could save a plug here and there. any color is fine as long as it's yellow. yellow is quite possibly the best color to keep in your arsenal. whether it's bass or bluefish. white is also a must. black and purple at night theoretically but i still like yellow at nite. then we get to muddy brown water and bright chartreuse and believe it or not orange.. plain bunker colors in olive/brown/black back with a metalic or grey scale like body are another must have as anything resembling a bunker (pogy as you call it) is priceless. a swimming plug around rocks and a pencil worked in the area just in casting range. a darter near rips or heavy current, needles worked really slowwwwww can be productive if your patient. just remember to work your plug to the very end. sometimes a fish will follow it all the way into 2ft of water and then try and nail it before it gets to the shoreline. i have only touched on a fraction of what you could use or need. what a loaded question that was. i'm surprized i even went this far.the white habs swimmer in 2oz is a fairly inexpensive plug to have as well as the cordell pencil. needles/poppers/and half assed darters are a dime a dozen (not really but less expensive in tackle shops). trying to keep it less expensive for you. if i had one plug to use in the day it would be a pencil popper. i'm gonna get flack for my excentric way of thinking but so be it. i like specific things and the experts will chime in on what you REALLY should be doing i'm sure....

white yellow creek chubs or white/yellow dannys are a good bet. Enough weight to get out there and are pretty versatile lures.
