I was at plum island with my 4 kids at the river's edge on Saturday.
Got the whole incoming and a little outgoing.
Had a great day with the kids but not a lot on the fish side. Was successful
getting a few schoolies and a quite a few hits that were lost on setting the hook.
Anyway, the highlight of the day was witnessing the small school of
large ( > 30" ) fish. Some maybe larger. Around a pod of about 8 fish.
All were within 10"(inches) or less of water. I honestly considered diving after them.
No fear of any causualty what so ever. I pondered what the other on-lookers would've thought. I easily could'of tackled one and beach it.
The fish were reddish... Larger scales, good size head and dorsil fin.
They were cruision very slow. As I walked along for about 100 feet I kept
a pile of clam right in-front of thier mouth(es). Had I grabbed the rod with
the herring chunk I might'a had better luck with one of them takin it.
Couldn't get one to swallow it.
What a scene it was as I'm walking along the water line holding the
bait in front as my kids were running behind me screaming.
My kids are 5, 7, 8, 10..... All screaming to get the fish!
Others were looking to throw gaf hooks and stuff. Completely
unbelievable. What a time!
A little help on what the fish was?
