Absolute Favorite Bait For Stripers
On this site there have been both polls and posts about people's favorite baits. Unless I can't find one, those posts and polls seem to be not so specific, informations was scattered and/or not that many people gave their inputs. Once and for all, let's see what everyone's favorite bait is. I've heard about a lot of people swearing by one bait and other people dissliking that same bait. I know location is an important factor, but otherwise: In your own opinion, what is the most effective striper bait you have ever encountered? Artificials do NOT count. Feel free to explain yourself.
I'll start it off. For me, I'd have to say clams. When using bait, I use it about 85% of the time. I really want to use eels this year along with some other types of baits. Hopefully this post will introduce me and some others out there to new and better baits.
p.s.: lets try to get as many replies as views lol

Re: Absolute Favorite Bait For Stripers
Bait? Mackeral. Cuz it's what I use, and is readily available when I am fishing bait. That and it works for me, in bait fishing situations.
I think the answer for most will be the same as with artificials. The bait they are most comfortable with is best for them.
My 2 cents.

Re: Absolute Favorite Bait For Stripers
I fish in the kennebec, where eels are also my favorite bait to use. But when i go to mass, i've had really good luck using scup (porgy) and squid as well.

Whatever catches one. I am partial to scup. Its a lot of fun livelining scup. They are the saltwater panfish. Eels are fun, live bunker is fun. clams are fun. sandworms. I caught one on cut mack in Mass. Herring and bloodworms in the Delaware and the Hudson.
Many of my salties are caught on cut bunker. Im partial to noggins.
