Default fishing report

here is the latest massachusetts fishing report from www.kitterytradingpost.com website

Massachusetts: Kay Moulton at Surfland on Plum Island says that there has been very little fishing pressure there yet but that several of the party boats had started up over the weekend. She hadn’t heard yet how they had done. Shad fishing usually starts up on the nearby Merrimack River sometime in mid-month and schoolie stripers that are probably holdovers are often taken upriver below the dam in Lawrence early in the season. When the herring runs start it won’t be too long afterwards when the larger stripers will appear.

Here’s the email just received from Pete Santini at Fishing FINatics in Everett: “Just got back from RI Show. Here’s what’s going on in Boston: Schoolie bass to 30 inches hitting rubber shad lures fished on jig heads at Amelia Earhart dam on both the saltwater and freshwater sides in Somerville and Everett. Some bass taking poppers as well. The same for Charles River behind Royal Sonesta Hotel, although stripers are a little smaller and are hitting only shad lures there.”

“Codfish bonanza on Stellwagon Bank yesterday—opening day. Lots of cod to 30 pounds and some seven-pound haddock were taken on Chuck Destefano’s Skip-a-Dory charter boat. Top baits were clams and 16 pounce jigs with a pelican green teaser. Flounder off the 6 A can at Faun Bar. Codfish should be moving into Presidents Road following the herring shortly. Also, flounder are being caught from shore and at Castle Island pier, Sugar Bowl, George’s Island Pier and Point of Pines at Revere Beach.”
