ill be on the cape june 9 threw the 16 its going to be my first time out there. i got the scoop on the bass but i would love nothing more then to find a cod or 2. i have been looking at some chart and see there is some nice water around P-town is there any where on the cape i could get into some inshore cod?
It's possible...not probable... there was a time, when codfish were routinely caught from SHORE.. all along the east coast...I'm old enough to have done it... with cod stocks very low and on the verge of collapse... it's highly unlikely.
tough enough in a boat....only way i think is get towed out by another boat like the guys that fish tuna from yaks do. which at that point you might as well just fish from the boat, cod dont tend to run and scream drag like a striper...more of a stright up deal.
I'm youngish, but old enough (I was a little kid) to remember getting cod drifting clams between the jetties on those nice days in November. Not huge fish (6-10lbs), but nice eating size. Unfortunately, those days are over.

yup last of those were in the mid 80's.... we used to jig them all winter... we used to catch slammer pollock from the jetties....in the late 60's and early 70's.. we will never see that again either...
it was worth a shot i guess. just looking to do something that i cant do in my home waters of ny/ nj. this is probably and even further shot is there any chance of inshore football bluefins?
wish the noaa would get there shit together. thanks for in help guys. ill post a report when i get back.
