Default Alone or with a mate?

Just curious guys.... those of you with boats (or without I guess as well) Do you prefer to fish alone or with a buddy? Boating wise of course it makes sense to have someone with you but I have to say sometimes you can't beat the peacefullness of being out there by yourself... plus you don't have to worry about someone not showing or being late and getting left at the dock, or someone else's schedule etc etc... personally when I go alone I always have my lifejacket ON and I don't go off shore... (I stay in Plymouth,Duxbury,Kingston bay)

just curious as to what others do and think!

I prefer going with someone myself. I seem to catch more fish when I am with other people than just alone.

I do alot of trolling so i usally go with someone.
When two poles bend over at once and your trying to real them in and stare the boat away from the rocks at the sametime,
sometimes can be tough.

I always go out with someone if I'm on my boat. Safety is part of it, but I'm blessed with some really good friends too. I fish for relaxation, and a few laughs. I love to catch fish, but having good friends aboard and a few laughs can make up for a slow day to me.

well I'm toying with the idea of leaving the boat in the yard tomorrow as I don't have anyone to go with. It may be more relaxing and much less stressful to just bring my rods down to the ole beach spot I used to frequent....(and I will save a hell of alot of gas$)!
It's still early enough in the season to pretty much catch fish no matter what (I think)

I got a really good buddy of mine who loves to go fishing with me EVERY time he gets a chance.

It's fun, boat, bait, cigars, food, and friends.

He's pretty good at boating and always drops/sets anchor for me. A second set of eyes on the water is not only GREAT for saftey but for fish/bait also.

He chipps in on gas/food. I teach him about striper fishing and he teaches me how to work on my motor. He's from inland and only does lakes n stuff.

Other than that i mostly go alone when he can't come. I always try and take a friend out or someone whos never been and wants to have a good time.
Pops will go with me once or twice a year.
I have a 3 beer per person rule.
Never a drop for me when im the only one with a boaters license.

I prefer to go with someone else, safety, and also it's more entertaining when you're there talking to someone rather then sitting there all by yourself watching huge bass surface at your bait with nobody else to share it with.

Went alone tonight on a pond....it's my favorite thing in the world. When I'm on the salt though, I always have someone.

Shock, I stay pretty much in Kingston Bay too. We should head out sometime. I just got into the striper thing...sold my bass boat and got a 19' foot dual console for the bay.

Like I said, I'm a converted saltwater guy, am pretty new to it and would love to head out with someone who knew what they were doing.

With a buddy, or since I am lucky my girlfriend...makes it a lot easier to launch the boat, and sharing the misfotunes and laughs can't be beat..

With a buddy. It' safer and they help me get out of my tight marina. You just have to bring the right buddy. When I bring people who know nothing about boats and fishing and I become the mate too then I start to get annoyed and wish I was alone.

I'm gonna have to agree with just about everybody else and say that I would much rather go out with someone. Saftey being the biggest factor for me and secondly if I should happen to hook into a cow then I want someone there with a net.

Personally i like going alone. To me fishing is theraputic (spell check?)LOL.
Most of the time i enjoy the solitude of it. Sometimes its cool to have some people with you, especially if boating and ofcourse for safety reasons. But i fish from shore.
And most of the spots i fish from people start showing up anyway. And usually right when i start to get bored and wish i had someone with me 2 talk 2 anyway. lol.

But for the most part,,,i like 2 go at it alone.

well said boston fisher... i guess it depends on who the "someone" is.... personally I don't mind if the person doesn't know what they are doing as long as they are IN TO being out there and fishing... nothing worse than dead weight who can't wait to get back to the dock...
anyway, I did go out alone on Sunday and got completely skunked..... there was a heavy fog early on and when it lifted and I saw all the other boats, I honestly didn't see one single guy with a fish on at any time during my 4.5 hours out there..... oh well...
the part I was most worried about (loading the boat back on the trailer by myself) turned out to be the most successful part of the trip!
