LI New York Info please

Can anyone answer a few questions for me. I see reports and fisherman on the internet talking about the South Shore and North Shore of Long Island, NY. Also places like central South Shore and other places north and south.

Are they talking about Long Island, NY or can someone explain where these spots would be in NY. I've always wondered what area's those places were at.
I'm in no way asking for spots just where those area's might be on LI, NY.
And I'm assuming they are in New York, and on Long Island.

Yep, those are definitely Long Island NY. The North Shore is the Long Island Sound facing Connecticut and the South Shore is facing the Atlantic Ocean. Most famous fishing is in Montauk Point, all the way at the tip end of Long Island.
