Default picked up two decent hybrids today

Hey Guys,
I fished the Hannibal tailrace today, Picked up two decent hybrids, one about 7 1/2 lbs and the other a solid 10 lbs, also picked up a few smaller ones and a few white bass. Not a bad morning considering the water was very dirty and running very fast.
Anyone else doing any good with the hybrids ?
I will try to post up a picture later today.

.....Willy

Finally starting to get some down at Greenup again. The water is finally down some but still very muddy. Live Shad & Mooneyes.

Hey, Willy,

Were you fishing from shore when you got the 10.0er? That must have been a long and uncertain fight, especially against river current. What pound test do you use?

sorry for the late response, was away for the holiday on a Striper fishing trip at Raystown Lake.
I was fishing at New Martinsville, WV when I got the 7.5 pounder and the 10 pounder, I seen a fellow catch and 11.2 pounder a few days after I caught my fish.
I am using 10lb. cabelas mono line.
I must say that my last trip to New Martinsville,WV was not a very good one, I seen something very disturbing, there were numerous "fisherman" (as they call themselves) casting 2-4 oz. lead spoons loaded with large treble hooks and 60 to 80lb superlines up into the fast current just below the dams, they let the spoon settle to the bottom then they start ripping the spoon across the bottom, what they are doing is snagging, sometimes they snag large hybrids, sometimes they snag carp or drum, but thier ultimate goal is to sink the treble hooks into a really large catfish, which I am told they do catch fairly often.
I for one am sickened by this method of "fishing" this in my opinion is not fishing at all. after witnessing a half dozen 8 to 10 pound hybrids snagged in the side and ripped open by these large treble hooks I couldnt take any more and I voiced my opinion to those involved and contacted the WV DNR. As far as I know nothing has been done at this point to stop the snagging, since te guys are using a "legitiment lure"
I welcome anyone who reads this to head down to the Hannibal Tailrace in New Martinsville,WV to witness these so called fisherman who pride themselves in snagging. If you are a true fisherman as I am it will make you sick! Let them know what you think, PLEASE!

Will do, Willy. There were a buch in Indiana doing that, but if I remember right, they were after paddlefish so they could harvest the roe for caviar. You're right; it's not sport fishing.
