Talk to some local bait shops, or even better, toss a line in.

Sometime in the next couple of weeks should see the Bass heading for the spawning grounds. Like the post above, local shops will be able to give you more specifics. respect their knowledge, and willingness to help you hook up by spending a couple of bucks in the shop while you are there. Wally world don't hire experts.

I've only been in VA for 2 years. It seems like the first week in May is when they start showing up in decent numbers on the Rappahannock. I've heard the same for the upper Potomac.

Hi and welcome. Something should be going on real some down your way.
I just get out there and see, usually. Ya don't know unless ya test the waters.

you are looking for a water temp of around 50 degrees i know the upper potomac around fletchers is around 45 right now.........once you get close to that temp in the pamunkey i would start fish for them.........i do pretty well with big bombers, xraps, bucktails, and soft jerkbaits on the potomac and the occoquan rivers
