What a FISH! Congrats to the angler. It seems like the fishing has been getting better and better every year on the Hudson.

It was my spot just before that........
It's a bit river and there is no spot burning from a boat.

Do you win anything for getting a record besides the bragging rights? Just wondering. I know at one point Mustad had a promo where if you caught a world or state record with one of their hooks you get $1 mill.

Re: New NY inland record striper caught today!
All I won was a taxidermy bill! I had the skin-mount and a replica done. DEC gave me a nice plaque and certificate, I got an In-Fisherman Angler award (plaque). Lund Boats told me they would give me a raincoat and never sent it. Line, rod, and reel companies didn't really offer up anything. I never revealed the secret lure, much to the dismay of some reporters.
Maybe the new record will fare better! The bragging rights were nice, along with the amazed faces of people who walked in the door only to see the striper on the wall.

Re: New NY inland record striper caught today!
Still can't get over how that big thing ate a little tiny bloodworm lol. I'm curious if this fish was caught off the bottom like they say the big cows lay or if the fish was suspended off the bottom like how i seem to catch all my other ones from newburgh area.

Re: New NY inland record striper caught today!
Thanks guys. Yeah it was me and yeah it was a blood 15ft in 35fow. Not a fish on the screen at the time. Somehow my reel came off the rod and I was able to get it back on. Then the line got wrapped on the prop. Thankfully I had braid on. I had to heave her over the bow by going through the gill because I was alone and didn't have a net. All the stars were in align to land this thing.

Is it safe to reveal the secret lure now that the record has fallen?

If I were him I'd contact the lure manufacturer for an endorsement before he did that, and if they agree to pay him then say the name of the lure, but if they don't agree to pay him then say the name of the COMPETITOR'S lure!!! hahaha

WOW JUST WOW. Been there (not with a 60#er of course), where everything that can go wrong does and you still wrangler her into the boat. Well done. No better feeling. Im sure you will never fish without a net again!
