2009 Sportcast USA Tournament Schedule

March 28-29 ----- Southeast Open Tournament - Shallotte, NC
April 4-5 -------- Northeast Open Tournament - Marlton, NJ
May 16-17 ------- Eastcoast Open Tournament - Charlotte, NC
May 30-31 ------- US Open Tournament - Virginia Beach, VA
June 13-14 ------ DelMarVa Open Tournament - Lewes, Delaware
Oct 3-4 --------- National Championship Tournament - Shallotte, NC

Exact event locations / directions upcoming.

Everyone is welcome to cast or watch.

Requirements for casting:

No restrictions on equipment except that the reel's spool must be of standard factory manufacture.

There are line rules with different requirements depending on the four weight classes being cast. Each weight is a stand alone category; cast just one, two, three or all.

High visibility mono only in the following minimum diameters:

100gm - .26mm
125gm - .28mm
150gm - .31mm
175gm - .31mm

Safety rules:

The use of a high visibility mono shockleader is required with a minimum level diameter of .75mm for all weight categories (no tapered leaders permitted).

The minimum length for the shocker is whatever length allows a minimum of eight wraps of shocker on the spool of the reel when the cast is made.

Only clips supplied by Sportcast USA may be used to attach the weight to your shockleader.

Tournament weights will be supplied by Sportcast USA.

Watching these guys throw a lead absolutely SICK distances is, to say the least, incredible !!

I'll be going to check out the Marlton one (and LL Bean is right around the corner for you fly fishermen)

maybe jim would like to go. i can't go on saturday. i would go to llbean but spent my allotment for THE YEAR at the fly show in somerset. i'd take my mag penn and give it a whirl.. i would have to respool it though. hey, that tica 11' rod i have may give me the chance to see if it really is a piece of crap...

but I think the practice field is only open on friday.

Trust me, this isn't the place you want to go cast

I thought the same thing that you did. I stopped in there on Friday, practice day - I brought the 12' Breakaway and Mag Elite figuring I'd have a go, maybe get some pointers.
Started taking the rod out of the truck. Saw Tommy Farmer take a practice throw and surreptitiously slipped the rod back into the truck. HOLY CHIT!!!
After that there was no way was I going to let these guys see me cast (And I don't completely suck at it)

Ended up hanging out for a few hours talking casting - learned a ton !

i would take the rod out...
put a windloop in the line and fire it out as hard as i can and listen for the snapppppp!! and jump up and down like a maniac and go yes!!! look at it go!!!!!!
and if you say road trip i am in....

The forecast winds for tomorrow are just insane; we here in the states rarely get the strong steady over 20mph winds that the Brits are often blessed with.

There should be some big numbers marked.

If it's too windy to fish come on over; everyone is welcome to cast or just watch a round or two . . .

Casting starts around 9 both days (maybe earlier on Sunday if the field can be left down) and on Sunday ends early afternoon because a lot of guys have a far drive.

Be sure to introduce yourself, I'll be the big Grizzly Adams looking guy throwing a spinner . . .
