Default Merrimack River

I was fishing the mack in Haverhill the other day for small mouth etc. A few people came down and said they had luck on a few stripers a few days prior. When can we expect them really moving up the river from the ocean in this area?

yes and then some... they go all the way to the Lawrence dam... some even get lifted over it.

went 4 times this week from 7:00-10:30 and no luck! couple catfish and eels =( i used herring and mackrel 2 nights then clams and seaworms the other 2 nights. People are saying there catching them at the lawrence dam but i would think they would be up this way in Haverhill. We definitely see something jumping but can't make out what they are. Big splashes

Try throwing an eel on the hook......cast it out and reel it in slow.

You will be amazed at the size of things a striper will eat.i have seen small stripers try to eat things almost as big as them.

I made it out a couple times in the last week. I got all kinds of stuff. Almost got a nice smalie. I DID get a little eel, a bug eel, two catfish, a carp and two little stripers. Pre-schoolies! Nothing keepable but there are fish in there! Clams and sea worms. Big goose-egg on lures other than theta one the smallie almost took so...still zero! Big splashes all around me wherever I'm fishing. They are teasing us!
