I was at the CT river, in chicopee. There was a guy getting ready for the Striper run. He said that "If you use trolling sinkers with your lures. You can cast farther (where the fish are) and get more/bigger fish".
Any truth to this?
From what I saw. He was casting bomber's with a 3/4 trolling sinker about 36" up the line.
Well it depends, more weight just means that it can better brave against wind resistance. Every lure has its sweet spot. Putting the weight too close to the lure though can spook fish off, and too far away makes it impractical to cast (helicopter)
