i usually wade in and fish my eels like a slow swimming plug, slower the better, but lately i have been carrying a small sand spike and a bobber with me, if the fishing is slow or a need a butt break i will spike the rod and use the bobber, i have been catching more fish this way lately then pluggin my eel, if you give the eel some line to swim on he will head to the bottom and even swim your bobber out to sea, is this a way I should be fishing more, does anyone else use it, advantages, disavantages, comments?

Here's one I made up awhile ago. Handy and works. Just don't try to keep 50+ eels in it like I did once (self inflicted brain fart ). Took 3 free 5 gal. buckets to make and most of a nasty day.

Bump for a favorite thread

I love the part where Roc sneaks in and steals a fish from under the noses of some sleeping bait guys

Bah, keep it simple, just place'em in a plastic bag make sure they get some oxygen and they're good for the night. (I have kept some for an entire night and placed them live in my tank for my next trip) I am very intrigued by retrieve idea though, I am mostly used to fishing with currents so I generally use 2oz weights.
