I do.
Kind of like plug making and fly tying as for it's worth.
I can probably buy a somewhat comperable factory built for what it cost me to make.
As with plug making, by doing my own I get to choose components, spacing, colors, and personalizing features. Many things can be done that can't be found in a store bought rod.
And it's enjoyable (for me anyways). But I'm new at it.

Here's one that I started before I got "laid-up".

9 ft. Moocher, extended to 10' 10", Hemp cord and cork grip, Guides and reel position are shown worked out but not installed. Nothing is finished, just roughed. Still has a long way to go. Once I get back "on it" it wont take long to complete.
