I picked up a Abu Garcia 6600CB from Cabela's and finally got to try it today. This is my first baitcasting type reel and I wasn't sure how things were going to work out. I have it loaded up with 30 pound Stealth. This thing is great. I was afraid of the birdsnest occurring so I was taking it really easy. It was still casting as far as my spinning reel. I need to get used to casting, then switching hands to reel, but it didn't take long to get the hang of it. I kept switching between the baitcaster and spinning outfit and I found myself making more casts with the baitcaster. I did have one minor birdsnest, but the Stealth pulled out easily. I think this reel is going to get allot of use this year.
I want to thank Jimmy for helping me out. There were a couple days when I must of PM'ed him a dozen times.

Re: Abu Garcia 6600
You got a new toy for your enjoyment, that great!
Those Abu's whether it's a 6500 or a 6600, are a BLAST. I'm glad you got the reel in control, some get 'em and get discouraged, when they birds nest. Just keep your tension, and you'll be ok. That's the key with any conventional reel.
Go get 'em!

Re: Abu Garcia 6600
BTW, here is more more that I built from some of the parts I had left over from the last binge. A 5000, with two spool bearings, and an idler cog bearing
