Zim, that came from J. Percy Priest lake just east of Nashville.
Don Schlicther (murdered his last name! ;) ) is a guide there, and they caught this on the Gizz4 last spring.
Thought it was a record Yellow, for TN anyway, but the genetics were checked and it was a Yellow/White hybrid, which looks like a nice little bassy, any way you cut it!

Now that's a fine yellow bass. The ones I generally catch are the size of the Giz4.

nice and fat isn't it? There's something about hybrids, whether true wipers or white/yellow, they get FAT!
I can see the fillets, fried to a golden brown, salt and pepper, little hot sauce, MMMM, I guess dinner's just around the corner!

As soon as you cut them open you can see how they got fat. Man those critters can hold a lot of shad!
I like a little Old Bay Seasoning in my breading. The other day I melted butter, chopped in a little fresh dill, a dash of Old Bay, then on the grill those wipers went. How can you beat a fish that fights, runs so hard you think you're snagged, often dies as soon as you pull him aboard, and tastes good when cooked?

I never heard of a yellow/white hybrid. Do you know if it's just a freak or if they are intentionally stocked?

As for yellow bass:

This was a Yellow/White bass hybrid, caught in TN with the Gizz4, I'd say if they get any bigger than 6", EAT THEM!
