Default The Mullet Run marks the beginning of the fall run

The first fall mullet run marks the beginning of the autumn run, the time that many of us wait for. Their appearance means lots of fish and some really big fish. The blitzes of bass and blues begin as soon as the mullet school up. When this happens, be ready.
As mullet begin to school in the back bays, bass and blues take note of these large and easily ambushed baitfish.
The bass work the edges of sodbanks, shallow flats, and shallow surf, locations where mullet schools go to avoid predation. When a school of mullet is located by a school of bass, the result is a feeding blitz that makes for great fishing. The water erupts with baitfish, bluefish, and bass.
Fish in the schools during a blitz or fish locations where bass and blues are likely to be waiting to ambush mullet.
Watch for diving birds. Beneath the birds, the water will be boiling. Cast a plug, spoon, or fly into the action. Poppers work nicely because they can attract fish from a distance, even if there are no mullet present. Amidst a school of mullet, a popper can draw a fish?s attention.
Match the size and color of mullet with swimming plugs and large flies but other types of lures will work as well in the fall so change lures from time to time.
Dawn and dusk are always the best times. We should see the beginning of the mullett run with the September full moon.

Anticipation
Mullet schools that are stacked in the backwaters now will feel
the cold blast and be on the move out of the inlets and then
out front staging along the beachfront in the next few weeks,
along with peanut bunker and spearing schools as well.

More mullet in the backwaters of NoMon then i've seen in years. Earnesto might be the key to an early run.

I haven't seen any yet, but I know they are around. There was a ton of large fish in close, I'll attribute that to the big blow last night. :)

I'm dying here... I've worked 65 hours already this week and it's only Thursday. At least I'm on salary and don't get paid for overtime. That makes it all worth it.
