Plug making and rod building is a fun hobby... It takes a little time to learn what does and does not work,if you need or dont need weight as well as placement of hooks, pull rings, through wires(which I do to all my plugs) as well as diving lips...

I'll set my lathe up Aftter Thanks giving, when I have all my bait trapped for Icefishing and that gear is ready, I'll take some Pics and post the "how to" on building your own(lathe) if you like, Mine doubles as a rod wrapper and plug lathe...

good luck and enjoy your new hobby!

Roc

So how'd it swim?

If it didn't swim the way you expected you might want to relocate the front eyescrew to the very nose of the plug. Where it is now will (depending on where you weighted it) diminish the effect of the lip and cause it to act more like a darter than a swimmer - which might not be a bad thing.

Like I said, you might want to rethink that nose loop location.
Experimenting is half the fun as well as half the aggravation.

Like Sudsy said, change the pull ring,I saw it right off, but figured to let you try it so you can make your own theory and report back, again as Sudsy said half the joy is in the aggrivation!
