Lake vs. Spillway
I have limited experience with stripers being that I have always fished with a fluke below the spillway (Ross Barnett Rez) with my brother. I have since moved to TN and am now confused as to which side would be better to fish on. There was never a doubt since in MS the water was not that deep on the lake side, but Douglas has some deep drops that can be accessed from the bank as long as you can cast out around 60ft.
If it is the lake side, what kind of rig setup would I be looking at using? The spot I have in mind has a pretty step drop off (60ft vertical over 20ft horizontal) and is a quarter mile to the dam, I don't believe I can cast into the channel (approx 280ft out from the bank). Is the fish going to want to have deep water access this time of year, or will I be better served with the stronger current on the shallow side (Spillway)?
All your sagely advice is appreciated.
