Post Kind of a weird question...

but a serious one...

I was fishing with some frozen calamari from a tackle shop the other day and was wondering. Are the leftovers good to eat? ?

Technically, many people might tell you to be careful. If it was me, and it was kept cold enough not to induce bacteria growth, and I cleaned it up good, I would definitely try it if I felt motivated or hungry enough. But I'm the guy who eats bloody albacore sushi at the beach, so ya might want to ask someone else.

If it was purchased as a food product and not as a bait product I say what the hell. If it was purchased as bait and was always treated as bait. Do not eat it. the guidelines for handling fish food are not as stringent as they are for handling people food.

And I thought you would eat it Zim.
I would not eat it, why would you even consider it?? Maybe if stranded for days on a deserted island and that was the only food product(term used lightly). Products from a bait shop are not FOOD QUALITY. They have no quidelines that they need to follow for quality control.

Having worked at a seafood packing place in Point Jude,,,
3 grades of squid come in.

People grade, (fresh, firm, cleaned & properly iced at sea)
bait grade, (been on the boat too long, could smell)
and the "special grade" (definately smelled and limp) that we'd leave behind the boss' seat for effect.

In all honesty,,,, People grade was sometimes "iffy" bait grade. Meaning it could go either way if frozen fast enough. Not really top shelf.

Hmmm, wonder why they're gone?
