Default New Fisher to the boston area

Hello all. I am a transplant from midamerica and looking to learn the techniques and spots of surfcasting for stripers and blues. I'm coming from a background of fishing for walleye/crappie/hybrids(wipers) so the whole surfcasting world is a new game for me. I know disclosure of spots isnt allowed on the forum, but are there any people that head out in groups or would be able to point me to some places to get started? I have tried with very limited luck using mackerel/herring/plugs.

Any introductory advice or upcoming outing information would be very much appreciated. Thanks all.

Welcome to the forum! It's a bit of a drive from the Boston area to where I fish, but if you're intersted in making a trip down my way let me know and I'll see what I can work out.

Jake, I may have to take you up on that offer after the holiday craziness settles out. Im doing a little cut bait fishing just to get my feet wet, havent had any success as of yet-should I reply here in the next week or two or send you a personal msg?

Did you have any luck through PMs? If not, shoot me one and I'll tell you the popular ones I know.

Also, feel free to PM if you have any interest in canoe fishing with me (need a nice calm day, of course); I live in Dorchester and don't get out much, but some company's always welcome. Some of these other guys will likely be a lot more helpful with technique suggestions, as I seem to have not brought any touch for catching fish with me from FL or HI: caught there, but don't catch here...hope to figure it out soon.
