Default What am I doing wrong

So far i've hit the marina in Pawtucket, Oakland beach, Warwick, and Newport and all i caught was a flounder. I want a nice striper or blue but no luck yet. So far I've tried SP minnoe, Bomber, sea worms, squid and mackeral. Where are you guys catching and with what, what time?

This time of year, you best be fishing at night, and preferably down close to the ocean where the water is cooler. Water temps are in the high 70's in the upper bay, which causes the oxygen levels to drop. Bigger fish aren't going to tolerate that when they can move out to cooler water. I'd be focused on night fishing the ocean front points with deep water nearby, like Brenton Point, Beavertail, etc. Don't forget your Korkers

Thanks for the tips Jake! I tried the Bay at night only once. Thinking about taking a trip out to Beavertail.

Any luck yet this Summer/Fall? I just started myself around the time you did. Just got my first striper last week. Only about 20inches. I was chunking at the beaches in Gansett. Also, now is the time to hit the marina.

if you can hold out until may, you'll have better luck..... lots of stripers in upper bay come spring..... but you have to hit them before it gets too hot..... PM me if you are interested in a charter..... im a newly licensed captain and am starting a charter
