Tell you what:

If you're located anywhere near Monmouth County NJ I have a rod you can have free. It's a Conlon and was the first rod I ever built (rebuilt) myself. The colors are a bit bright, metallic blue and red over black, but it'll work great as an eel stick.

Been gathering dust for the past 20 years, it would be nice to see it get some use again.

You can always go into your local tackleshop and get a custom rod if they make them.

thats what i did, i dont launch eels from the beach but i can launch a 1 oz lure and even a half oz lure far into the surf.

i have a 9 foot custom rod btw, very light tip, but alot of back bone.

got it from Jersey Coast Bait N Tackle in brick new jersey, where i live.

I just took it down, been a long time since it came off the rack.
I had to think hard, it's been a long time but if memory recalls it was 9' but the tip was too soft so I cut it down to 8' from the tip specifically to make it fish better with plugs and eels off the jetty.

2 piece

Where are you located ? What town ?

Yea, but I'm not sure it's worth the $20 it'll cost to ship it It is 25+ years old and could conceivably break in half on the first fish.

Your call

Just had a thought, I may be able to help.
A very good friend of mine passed away coming up on a year ago. I'm supposed to sell his gear for his widow but it's one of those things I haven't been able to bring myself to do quite yet. I know he had a Surf King. I'll stop over there in the next few days and check it out.

There may be something else in the rack that could work and fit your price range.

His name was Gary Hull, aka Gary2 a very well known fisherman and plugmaker - do a google
Safe to say the gear has big mojo

Probably should but I'm going to make a rare exception for a kid getting into the sport. I've got a soft spot for that.

Hey Sudsy

I'm no kid but I am new to striper fishing. I'd be interested in buying some of your friends gear. I just bought a boat this summer and I'm looking for some tackle. I live on Old Bridge so I shouldn't be too far from you.

I could sure use some of Gary's mojo.

i went to dicks to get some lures , when i picked up a BEAUTIFUL st croix 10' 6". it was incredibly light and the cork is a big change from the slimy EVA foam. the rod was rated 2-6 and was considerably stiff, but thats coming from a guy who knows next to nothing. i guess i'll wait for santa to come around with 120. (is that a good price?)
