Default bloody shame

A buddy and I are walkin past some guy planted on the rocks where we were goin for snappers the other day just as he was pullin in a schoolie striper, about 8 - 10 inches or so. He looks up at my buddy and goes "a small striper, I'm gonna throw him back", then he puts it in a bucket. My buddy looks in the bucket and he's got about 3 small stripers in there (dying). Well we took off for lunch, stopped and got a regs pamphlet and my buddy called DEP. They told him they didn't have anyone near the area right now (which I found odd since we were right near a DEP HQ) but they would check it out when they could. We drove by the guy an hour or so later and he was still there. We left and came back a bit later and he was gone. I'm not sure what transpired but I know we did our part, albeit it was my buddy who called since I didn't really whitness him catching and keeping. I couldn't get over though how ballsy this guy was, right out in the open keeping baby stripers with people fishing all over the place around him. What is wrong with people?

Just wondering...anyone had reason to call DEP this year?
Sorry its DEP in CT think its like DEM other places amongst other acronyms....
It is not fear that grips him... only a heightened sense of things.

Infortunately they will never "be around" to get those guys. And those poachers know that. I wish they would deputize a thousand or so of us, train us, and we would do it for nothing.

A picture of him with the fish in question and one of his car/plate #. Send that to the DEP

They just don't care about rules and regs. That is just one instance, but I believe that is the norm for some.
You did the right thing by reporting it. Chances are the offender will return, and the authorities will be focusing on that location. Hopefully.

Sometimes they come, sometimes they don't.
If I call, usually right in front of the poacher, so he hears every word I say, and they reply that no one is available, I do my own version of release. I call it the Venitary.
