If you like fishing with mono, i strongly suggest checking out P-line. This stuff is much stronger, much more abrasion resistant and casts easier than any monofilament ive ever seen. The only drawback is the price (about 2X as much), but spending $20-$30 dollars more a year to have the best is worth it to me. I use to be a big fan of berkley big game until a friend gave me a spool of this. We tested the breaking strength of both by pulling horizontally with a boga grip and found this:

20lb big game: broke at 25lb
17lb CXX P-line: broke at 33lb

both lines we tied with a palomar knot, on brand 1/4lb spools of line.

I use 30# power pro on my 10ft surf stick and 20# on my 7ft. I also use 15# yo-zuri .

Medium plugging - Penn 704mp, Mitchell 386mp, Mitchell 486mp - 20# Fireline
Medium meat chucking - Penn 704 wire bail - 30# Stren Superbraid
Heavy plugging - Penn 706mp, Mitchell 498mp - 30# Stren Superbraid

Conventional:
Light plugging - Abu 6500 Mag Elite - 30# Stealth
Medium meat chucking - 146 Squidder - 30# Stealth
Heavy meat chucking and Livelining - Abu 7000 - 65# Stealth
Superheavy bridge fishing - Abu 8600 - 100# PowerPro
Heavy boat chunking - Abu 7000 Big Game - 80# Stealth
