The Coast Star, a weekly out of Manasquan on Thursdays, has a column by Jim Freeda of Shore Catch Guide Service. His guide service splits up in the Raritan Bay area and Manasquan/ Barneget areas. The following link will get you to the Coast Star. http://thecoaststar.com/

Then you have to download the whole issue (18m it's big) to see the column
(the link for the download is on the lower left of the webpage.. This week, the Dec 21st edition, his column is on page 62 of 76. I like his stuff better then Ristori. Also he'll mention plugs, pix, etc that is in his Shore Catch website and helps you out even more.

april 1st should be the confirmation date for release of the new striped bass regulations for new york. almost a given as we wait for the final word on bass and fluke reg. the new reg's will be 2 bass - 1st fish 28 inches and the second 40" or better (which is feasably possible as last season was cow city here) fluke wIll be 5 fish at 17 1/2 inches.no change in winter flounder from last season.

You may only keep 25 porgies from shore so you may keep 60 from boat hense proof of catch
effective april 8 2005.

Laws and regulations are frequently amended by the Legislature or DEC. You should check with the Marine Fisheries office to ensure that the requirements set forth in this notice remain in effect.
