Is any body using the Penn captiva reel or the Penn captiva live liner reel?
If you are what do you have to say about them good and bad? I am thinking of buying one.
the rod I want to match up the captiva to is a M action ugly stick tiger 7' 2 pice.
Got the Penn 9500ss, the Penn 8500ss, the Penn Slammer 560....and various ancient Penn Conventional surfcasting reels , but no Captiva, kind of interested in the response now.
I'm a Penn dude but, and my wife is gonna kill me, but, gonna get me a Vanstal for next season.
I dont think Matt wants spend the loot for one of those Penn's. I'd suggest a Z series Penn, but I think the Captiva will be good to start out with. Once you start gettin good at findin the fish and really get into it, a better reel will be needed :)
lol. I have a Penn Captiva live liner I use as a "utility" reel. Its smooth with all those bearings, but for some reason, I just do not like the way the drag feels.
But if someone is just starting out, I would say it is a good reel. It wont fall apart in your hand like some of the stuff out there lol.
