More Hybrids from Greenup Dam Ohio River

Well, after a decent afternoon with Jeff yesterday, I decided to dress a little warmer and go again today. Only caught 23, 14 of which were on a blue Gizz. what a lure. I was even bringing one in and another tried to steal it from the 6 lber I was landing. So it looks like they are starting to get in the aggressive mode. Went to Portsmouth to fish the Scioto River after that and the White bass were hitting the white Gizz. BIG white bass. 3 whites and 6 more hybrids there. A good day..



This posted on Smack Tackle's forum this evening, by Dave Ogborn, who was gracious enough to introduce me to Mark Browning of Ol' Dad's Outdoor Store yesterday, then put me on some nice wipers at Greenup Dam. I gave Dave a couple Gizz4, and this is what he does with them!

Hey LMJ,

I've fished that dam! Caught a few there myself. I had a three year project in Ironton that I visited twice a week. Several times I just stayed overnight to fish. Thats a nice place to fish right there.

My first time there, and it's only a couple hours from home!
I would like to say I caught those 23, but it was Dave Ogborn, who showed me the dam and was w/me when I caught a few Saturday.
I'm heading back soon, a young guy posted on OGF that he and some buddies caught a few dozen Sat. and Sun., biggest being 17 lbs or so!

That's TOO close to the state record!

I've said it too many times: Too much water, Too many fish, Too many great fishing buddies to meet and fish with, too little time and money!

Whoever it was doing the fishing and the catching, that looks like a great day on the water. Glad to hear it is warm enough to fish somewhere.

Being warm enough was objective, Slowretrieve! :)
It was cold and bitter out, but the water was still warm enough to have the wipers biting, and that's all that counted.

LMJ you are killing me. I need to get some inventory built up so I can get in on some of that good hybrid action. Todd and I have fished that area before and know a couple good spots. I need to go fishing bad. You know how small my paint room is. I got to get out of there!

Want to ride down to Cumberland w/me next friday night or Sat. am?
I'm living in a tent for the night, unless CG invites me in.
We'd still need a boat, wouldn't we?
Are you and Todd planning on getting out next weekend? I'm fishing w/CG Sunday 7am, I'll spend Sat visiting 3 shops, might tie yak on roof for Sat. am and/or pm after shop work.
