Plugging Blank Recommendation?

Just started fishing last year, so...

Looking to build my first spinning surf rod for yo-zuris, bombers, red fins, 3/4 to 2 oz No jetty or pier, strictly beach and inlets. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would either use a stradic 5000, captiva 5000 or slammer 560.

Also, what would be the recommended line? I was thinking 15# braid.

Not sure about a blank, there are some others who can help you with that.

But I can offer some advice, steer clear of the Captiva's reels. I bought 2 to "test out" a few years back when they came out. 1 baitrunner model, and 1 non-baitrunner. I blew tha handle off one fighting a 25# fish. White metal. Rubbish. I hucked it in tha trash. I still have the baitrunner model, but I use it for fish up to 15# when chunking bait in the marsh. The bearings are smooth, but the drag is really "chunky".

20# Fireline is great fer pluggin', especially topwater plugs. It's got "body", and isnt as limp as the ropey braids are. But I wouldnt recommend it for jigging or when working around alot of rocks and structure.

The best thing you can do is to go to a few fishing flea markets and look around for a blank that fits your specs. You might get lucky and score a great deal.
I was looking for the same thing as you and just came up with a brand new never built 9' Harnell blank. Never in a million years would I ever expect to stumble across something like this but it just goes to show that if you look, you never know what you'll find.

I have heard lots of bad things about the captiva line, unfortunately I allready own it.

I did a google search for fishing flea markets and really didn't find
anything. Anyone know of any in or around Massachusetts?
